As studios are wont to do, mine got kind of twitchy this week. A previously flawless mic setup suddenly had a ping-pong echo across the walls and no amount of re-angling or even pillow stacking would make it go away. So in a two-birds, one-stone way I decided to move the desk, get the PC in the closet so the fan noise would stop bothering me (even whisper quiet gets irritating eventually) and clean up the clutter.

Mission accomplished, I settled in to try out the new setup. No fan noise in the mics! Guitar in easy reach of the desk! Plenty of new places for the cat to explore instead of climbing on my mixing board! And the general sense of well being that comes from an uncluttered desk. I even inaugurated the new setup by jotting out the beginnings of a quick song idea.

Now, I need to get my orchestra firing on all cylinders again so I can polish off a little intro fanfare for a video at work. Maybe I'll post the results for a change of pace over in the catalog.
