I am the Master, and you will obey me.
My birthday falls on a Saturday this year. (Hooray!) So I've decided to celebrate by allowing myself to be a complete couch potato for the day.

On November 17th, I'll be reviewing the television career of one of my greatest childhood influences. That's right! It's Doctor Who's arch enemy, The Master!

Here's the lineup:

  • Claws of Axos w/ Roger Delgado and John Pertwee. "You will obey me!"
  • Keeper of Trakken w/ Geoffrey Beevers, Anthony Ainley and Tom Baker. "A new body, at last!"
  • The Five Doctors w/ Anthony Ainley, Peter Davidson and assorted Doctor's. "Believe it or not, we were at the academy together."
  • Mark of the Rani w/ Anthony Ainley and Colin Baker. (Maybe. This one might not make the cut.)
  • Survival w/ Anthony Ainley and Sylvester McCoy. "We shall become animals!" (Final episode of the old series.)
  • Utopia, The Sound of Drums, and Last of the Time Lords w/ Derek Jacobi, John Simm and David Tennant. "Vote Saxon [X]"

Screening will begin at 10AM or so. Drop by whenever you feel like it. Stay until you want to leave. It's very informal. Bring food if you like. I intend to have pizza and drinks on hand.

There may be breaks in the showings for Guitar Hero or Wii Sports.

There will be periodic reminders of this event. I just wanted to get the first announcment out so that people can begin to plan accordingly.

Which episode was the one that had the doctor and the master running around in the jungle, and the doctor making poison darts out of thorns and plant poison? I vaguely remember that from years ago as being a totally awesome episode.

The Deadly Assassin I think.

The Doctor arrives on Gallifrey in time to witness the President's murder. The Master's behind it all and the Doctor has to chase is cohort into the Matrix where they travel through projections of different times and places.

The Matrix. Yes, once again, Doctor Who did it first.

I've actually met a lot of people with Birthday's in mid November. My college roommate was the 16th too. About 9 months before is Valentine's Day. Makes sense to me.

We need to do the werewolf movie thing. I have a few other horror movie fan friends on this side of the river. Maybe we can all get together?

Yes! Absolutely! We'll have to toss a few dates around. I'll talk to Mat and then email.

Dude, if I can make it that day I totally will. I'll have to see what my work/school/schedule is like. But that's a marvelous idea for a birthday lounging day. And you had better add "The Deadly Assassin" onto that list, even if we have to watch it on YouTube. That make-up design for the scary wide-eyed burn-victim Master was great.
